This course will provide a didactic overview of the complications of adenotonsillectomy in children, a problem with which all general otolaryngologists must be familiar. This course will examine both common and uncommon complications with management tips and frame the discussion around the presenters experience with multiple legal cases involving adenotonsillectomy. Learning Objectives:1: Examine potential major complications following adenotonsillectomy, respiratory compromise and bleeding. 2: Develop an algorithm for deciding which postoperative patients demand overnight care. 3: Evaluate which complications are more likely to result in litigation.
