Otosclerosis: From Standard to Challenging Cases
2017 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
The course will be divided in two parts: in the first one, after an introduction regarding etiology, physiopathology and clinical aspect of otosclerosis, cases of standard stapes surgery will be shown with the description of the surgical technique, results and complications as well as the use the laser, new stapes prosthesis and endoscope. In the second part, challenging cases (encompassing malleus head fixation, dehiscent facial nerve, narrow oval window, obliterative otosclerosis and round window ossification) will be described with videos and a case series of revision stapes surgery (erosion/absence of the incus, perilymphatic fistula) will be shown.

Describe the classical technique of stapes surgery with the benefits of the laser, new prosthesis and endoscope.2. Recognize and manage difficult cases.3. Identify prognostic factors when dealing with revision stapes surgery.Faculty: Daniele Bernardeschi, MD, PhD (Nothing to disclose), Olivier Sterkers, MD, PhD (Nothing to disclose).
