Think Outside the Box: Anterior Skull Base Lessons for All Otolaryngologists
2019 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Keyword(s)
anterior skull base, hemorrhage, skull base injury, diagnostic dilemmas
This course uses case-based learning from patients with anterior skull base/complex rhinologic problems and distills down accessible and applicable concepts important to all otolaryngologists. In an effort to take knowledge out of silos and communicate concepts important for otolaryngologists, we introduce cross-discipline learning as an integral part of this course. In this course, experts will discuss clinical issues such as malignancy presenting as an 'unknown-oma,' bleeding, intraoperative complications, endoscopic skull base methods, avoiding long-term complications, and bringing new technologies safely into your operating room. The panelists will also discuss how concepts learned in these scenarios can be applied to other types of patients and practices. Particular importance will be placed on understanding the rationale and science behind the different clinical scenarios, and in turn how these can be applied to other areas of otolaryngology.

Learn how solutions to challenges in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery teach broadly applicable clinical concepts. 2. Explore how hemorrhage, skull base injury, diagnostic dilemmas, and long-term care plans apply to all otolaryngologists. 3.
