Enhance Team Effectiveness Via High-Quality Performance Reviews - Success Hinges on These Crucial Interactions (2022 AMW)
2022 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Is your team living up to their potential? Do you sometimes feel you have clearly communicated with someone, only to discover that nothing has changed? Are there ways to make these conversations less stressful? Performance Reviews are a crucial part of any supervisory position. Maximizing the impact for these infrequent, yet highly important, interactions with your team can be the difference between your professional success or failure, as well as that of the organization. Many employees (especially physicians) never receive any formal training in this area before they are promoted into leadership roles. We will use simulated situations and audience polls as a launching pad to discussions around best practices. Concepts discussed in this session are applicable to anyone overseeing direct reports, employees, junior colleagues, or trainees. This includes Academic medicine, private practice, group practice, or any other organizational structure. Topics will include: Crucial conversations, contracting for behavior change, mentoring, negotiation, implicit bias.
