Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation in Obstructive Sleep Apnea (2022 AMW)
2022 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
The aim of this International Symposium is to deal with unilateral and bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The first important step is to identify the right patient. Who is the perfect candidate for HNS? Different techniques, different selection criteria’s? Endotyping OSA patients will help in the future to predict responders to therapy. Since bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation is available since 2018 different implant techniques and surgical approaches have been proposed. The correct selection of the hypoglossal nerve fibers for cuff placement is important for surgical outcome. What needs to be considered for the different surgical approaches? Furthermore, this lecture gives trouble shooting on the major surgical problems, post-op complications and tips for therapy optimization.
