Recurrent Thyroid Cancer - Current Concepts (2022 AMW)
2022 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
The risk of recurrence in thyroid cancer is quite low, however it depends on the extent of initial diseases, both at the primary site and nodal metastasis. Recurrent disease is difficult to manage in relation to resection of tumor, prevention of complication, and future recurrences. The major areas of distant metastases are lungs, bones, and brain. The role of adjuvant therapy needs to be elaborated in patients presenting with recurrent thyroid cancer. This session will discuss the etiology of recurrences and the best surgical management. It will also discuss the nuances in evaluation and management of recurrent thyroid cancer.
