Seven thousand forty five papers are identified from PEBMED as dealing with surgical treatment of OSA. Many of these techniques are still in clinical use, but many are not. Treatment in the United States often is very different than the rest of the world. The panel will focus on the following techniques to discuss their current utilization. Responses from a survey of AAO-HNSF members on their practices will be reviewed. Hypoglossal nerve stimulation therapy has become the most frequent treatment offered in most academic centers in the U.S. The course will review the basic principle of the procedure and discuss who is a candidate and who should be treated with conventional technique.
