Outcome Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1. Provide preoperative counseling and expectations for pain management.
2. Identify high-risk individuals and understand appropriate referral pathways for a multidisciplinary approach to acute, post-surgical pain management.
3. Understand typical pain management regimens for common otolaryngologic procedures.
4. Optimize opioid prescribing patterns to reduce over-prescription.
5. Counsel patients on appropriate use of a multimodal pain regimen as well as appropriate disposal of unused medication.
6. Identify opioid misuse and understand best practices for referral and treatment.
