Recent reports indicate burnout amongst physicians continue to increase, up to 54%! This session will increase awareness and teach ability to recognize high degree of burnout as well as provide strategies to minimize risks. Practicing otolaryngologists/trainees will understand risk factors and how current increasing demands of productivity and EHR use occur at the expense of physician wellness. Presenters will share personal journeys, lessons learned, and provide pearls for minimizing high degree of burnout. Concepts of energy management for "peak"performance, surgeon wellness, and strategies to maximize physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness will be discussed. The following objectives are covered in this course: 1. Identify risk factors and when experiencing high degree of burnout. 2. Implement strategies to minimize high degree of burnout. 3. Maximize human energy to improve performance.
