Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Fellow Training Around the World (2023 AMW)
2023 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Global Otolaryngology is one of the key issues in AAOHNSF which focus on the ways to minimize the gap in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery training and raise the standard of care through education, sharing and cooperation among various countries. There is an increasing incidence in head and neck cancer in the whole world. The burden of head and neck surgery workforce have been heavy, especially in the middle and low income countries (MLIC) where the mortality to incidence ratio in head and neck cancer patients are particularly high. The reasons behind this are the lack of head and neck surgery workforce and few training programs existed in MLIC. The way to bridge the gap in head and neck cancer care between the high and MLIC can be education, especially the basic and advanced fellowship training program in head and neck oncology and surgery. In this proposal, we would like to review the current training programs in various regions, try to reach some consensus, build up the standard of care and probably establish a potential platform in head and neck oncology and surgery training. The following is the proposal organization: title “Head and Neck surgical oncology fellow training around the world ”Moderator: Eugene N Myers, USA Panelists: Jeffery Myers, USA Fernando Dias, Brazil Sheng-Po Hao, Taiwan.
