Revision Cholesteatoma Surgery: Learning From Clinical Cases (2023 AMW)
2023 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Revision cholesteatoma surgery is very challenging: it demands an in-depth knowledge of the pathology and surgical competence. This instruction course analyzes anatomical factors and surgeon's technical errors that may lead to residual or recurrent disease following primary cholesteatoma surgery. We will present clinical cases requiring revision surgery and discuss them in an interactive manner showing radiologic images, pre-operative photographs , and surgical video clips. We'll discuss management of recidivistic cholesteatoma in canal wall down mastoid cavities, in canal up mastoidectomy and in cases previously managed with an exclusive endoscopic approach. We'll discuss indications for endoscopy as a primary or as an adjunct tool in revision surgery and operative techniques to avoid complications and improve surgical outcomes.
