PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Given the sheer volume of annual publications, it is difficult to remain up to date in evidence-based otolaryngology. This course will summarize the key literature in the fields of General Otolaryngology, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Rhinology, Sleep Medicine, including randomized trials, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines, and other important evidence based updates. Participants will be able to update current clinical knowledge and improve their patient’s quality of care. This mini-seminar is presented in collaboration with the General Otolaryngology and Sleep Education Committee and the Outcomes Research and Evidence Based Medicine Committee.Please note that this is Part 1 of a 2-part presentation. We request 2 hours total for parts 1 and 2 (1 hour for each part). Part 2 will have a different moderator and panelists and will be submitted separately.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Identify key evidence-based medicine (including randomized trials, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines) within the topics of General Otolaryngology, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Rhinology, Sleep Medicine.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Utilize the presented evidence-based information to increase current knowledge in clinical practice.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Integrate evidence-based information into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: This presentation has been previously highly rated and presented in conjunction with 2 Academy committees (GOSEC and OREBMC). The session will provide focused content for general otolaryngologists so they can save time reviewing the literature.
