PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Aimed at graduating otolaryngology residents and early career physicians who are considering a career in private practice , this session will provide current and recently graduated trainees with insights into the nuances of practice/career choice and private practice management, This panel wil also focus on how private practice otolaryngologists can continue to engage with the otolaryngology community through local and national organizations and become eventual leaders. This session will feature several prominent private practice leaders who are at different stages of their careers. Through an informal question and answer format, our distinguished faculty will provide insights into a range of career and pracdtice choices that that they have made, sharing their mistakes as well as their wins. Come prepared with your questions as you evaluate your career opportunities!OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Attendees should be able to compare various private practice models based on size, location and affiliation and apply these concepts to their own personal interests.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Attendees should be able to recognize and apply strategies for handling change in the private practice setting in order to succsfully grow and evolve their practice.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Attendees should be able to analyze methods to engage in the broader otolaryngology community through local and national organizations as a private practioner.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: With more and more residents seeking fellowship training and subsquent academic employment, this panel's goal is to provide insight to the resident and young physician community on the breadth and depth of practice opportunities in the private practice realm.
