PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This international symposium was entitled "DIFFERENCES OF PRIMARY HYPERPARATHYROIDISM AROUND THE WORLD" on previous Academy meetings and will discuss different aspects of diagnosis, imaging, surgical management and follow-up of primary hyperparathyroidism from a multinational perspective. With expert panelists, it will be case based and focused on interactive discussion with the audience. We will describe differences between profiles of primary hyperparathyroidism throughout diagnostic tests, role of rapid PTH, focused surgery and bilateral approach, multiglandular disease and indications of endoscopic/robotic parathyroidectomy. Gathering experts from United States and Brazil we will discuss every aspect of each case with audience pooling.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Recognize hyperparathyroidism in different settings and presentationsOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Understand differences between uniglandular and multiglandular diseaseOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Understand indications for surgery and differences between each approachBACKGROUND STATEMENT: Primary HPT is really common in developed countries, specially asymptomatic disease, while advanced and symptomatic disease is still common in other countries, such as Brazil. Conventional approaches, Focused surgery and new approaches such as transoral must be discussed.
