Recent Developments in the Management of Thyroid Cancer (2023 AMW) Session
2023 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The management of thyroid disease has undergone many advances over the past two decades. Advances in molecular diagnostics have changed preoperative testing. Innovative surgical approaches have allowed for less neck scarring. Advanced therapeutic modalities continue to provide expanding indications for treatment. This program will provide an updated, evidence-based discussion of the contemporary management of thyroid diseaseOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: 1) Understand thyroid radiofrequency ablation and know indications for treatmentOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: 2) Be aware of robotic retroauricular approach for thyroidectomyOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: 3) Know the latest molecular diagnostic testing and its current applicationBACKGROUND STATEMENT: Advances in our understanding of thyroid cancer have led to changes in diagnosis and management. Surgeons should be aware of the most recent developments: including molecular methods for diagnosis, surgery with radiofrequency ablation, and use of robotic surgery to avoid cervical incisions.
