State-of-the-Art Strategy for Odontogenic Sinusitis: Experience From Taiwan (2023 AMW) Session

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Odontogenic rhinosinusitis is more common than historically reported, and should be considered when evaluating patients with rhinosinusitis. Due to the awareness of dental health and occlusion’s function, the need for dental procedures and implants has increased in recent years. Besides, the incidence of iatrogenic odontogenic sinusitis has also increased. However, current diagnostic criteria and treatment policy for odontogenic sinusitis that were used in previous studies are extremely heterogeneous. This symposium will provide the most up‐to‐date evidence from Taiwan experience to give all audience about current recommendations on diagnosing and managing odontogenic rhinosinusitis. Important clinical scenarios will also be discussed to highlight how these recommendations can be implemented.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Differentiate clearly between odontogenic and non-odontogenic rhinosinusitisOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Understand when surgical intervention is needed for odontogenic rhinosinusitisOUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Select appropriate medications to manage odontogenic rhinosinusitisBACKGROUND STATEMENT: Even though odontogenic rhinosinusitis is not uncommon pathology, it is still underdiagnosed/undertreated. Furthermore, the incidence of odontogenic rhinosinusitis is increasing in every countries and we will provide our experiences and evidences in Taiwan to give the recommendations.
