PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Eustachian tube dysfunction is a common diagnosis in general otolaryngology practice. A growing body of evidence suggests the need for a multifactorial evaluation when this diagnosis is being considered, and various options for treatment are available for which the indications and effectiveness continue to be defined. This panel presentation will provide an overview of the currently available evidence related to the diagnosis and management of adult Eustachian tube dysfunction. Presentations will synthesize available knowledge, drawing upon statements from the AAO-HNSF Clinical Consensus Statement. Discussion will feature expert opinions from a well-versed panel, with representation by otologists and rhinologists to provide a balanced perspective of the topic.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Understand the diagnostic evaluation of adult Eustachian tube dysfunction.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Appreciate current areas of consensus in the management of adult Eustachian tube dysfunction.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Recognize where experts agree and disagree regarding the indications for treating adult Eustachian tube dysfunction.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: There is a need for clinicians to understand the evidence supporting the diagnosis and management of patients with Eustachian tube dysfunction, as new technology and procedure codes are introduced for the treatment of this condition.
