PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Patients with pulsatile tinnitus could present a diagnostic challenge to the treating physician. Pulsatile tinnitus could be the first presentingcomplaint in patients with dural arteriovenous fistula or other serious conditions. Recent advances in non-invasive radiological technologyrevolutionized the diagnosis and management of patients presenting with pulsatile tinnitus. The purpose of this presentation is to define andreview potential etiologies in patients with pulsatile tinnitus and to present an update on the radiological work up and treatment modalitiesavailable.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Differentiate between venous and arterial causes of pulsatile tinnitus.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Identify the role of different radiological modalities in the diagnosis of patients with pulsatile tinnitus.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Identify available treatment options of patients with pulsatile tinnitus.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: As Otologists at tertiary care centers we recognize the lack of adequate knowledge of many referring physicians about the significance ofadequate work up of patients with pulsatile tinnitus which prompted this submission.
