Cutaneous Melanoma: Contemporary 2021 Management Pearls (AMW) Session
2021 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
The management of cutaneous head and neck (HN) melanoma experienced rapid, transformational change over the past few years. This expert lecture provides a contemporary, case-based, concise framework to highlight pertinent changes to your practice. Melanoma work-up and treatment options will be reviewed in an evidence-based fashion. Sentinel node biopsy techniques and pearls will be shared, along with the utility of a completion neck dissection in the context of the recent MSLT-II trial. New advances in immunotherapy to include PD-1 inhibitors and associated clinical trials will be reviewed so that physicians can hold meaningful patient conversations regarding adjuvant treatment options. We will highlight the most important changes we face, which are often the most challenging, in the management decisions for our melanoma patients. Participants will leave this 1-hour course with a clear understanding of 2021 standards of care for cutaneous HN melanoma.
Description
Learning Objective: 1. Implement 2021 evidence-based melanoma guidelines for work-up and staging to include radiographic imaging and sentinel node biopsy. 2. Formulate a plan to education advanced melanoma patients on adjuvant treatment options to include immunotherapy. 3.
