Otitis media is one of the most common reasons for physician visits, antibiotic therapy, and surgery in children. This course will summarize the best published evidence on otitis media research, emphasizing guidelines, randomized trials, systematic reviews, and new research published during the past 12 months. Topics will include acute otitis media, recurrent acute otitis media, otitis media treatment failures, otitis media with effusion, and surgical management (tympanostomy tubes and adenoidectomy). Emphasis is placed on pragmatic advice for everyday practice settings

Learning Objective: 1. Assess current treatment paradigms and guidelines for managing children with otitis media. 2. Recognize and know how to dispel common myths and misinformation about otitis media in children. 3. Integrate recent high-quality clinical research on otitis media into routine patient care.
