Evidence-Based Treatment of Chronic Cough (AMW)
2021 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Cough is one of the most common symptoms for which outpatient treatment is sought. This condition can be debilitating for the patient and frustrating for the otolaryngologist to manage. Chronic cough (>8 weeks) can be a result of uncontrolled allergies, pulmonary disorders, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. When these potential etiologies have been ruled out, the cough can sometimes be considered neurogenic in nature. This course will review the work-up for chronic cough and discuss various therapeutic options. A novel form of treatment, the superior laryngeal nerve block, will be discussed in detail.
