Open Airway Reconstruction: Tips for Success Across the Age Spectrum (AMW)
2021 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Pediatric laryngotracheal reconstructive procedures result in decannulation rates in the 85-90% range. There is a general paucity of reports on technical factors which may contribute to surgical treatment failure. Yet, these factors and pitfalls must be recognized. In revision surgery specifically, techniques must be tailored to the individual patient to address these pitfalls and avoid repeating errors. This course, from an experienced and well-established pediatric airway surgeon will address pitfalls in primary airway reconstruction, ideal timing of revision procedures, surgical techniques and stentiing needs specific to revision cases, and review of holistic patient factors which may contribute to failure.
