Parathyroid Gland Identification: What Every Surgeon Should Know about Autofluorescence (AMW) Session
2021 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Advancements in both optical coherence tomography (OCT) and near infrared autofluorescence (NIRAF) are ushering in a new advantageous approach to parathyroid gland identification, and in appropriate settings parathyroid gland preservation, in head and neck surgery. The participant in this expert lecture should benefit from an understanding of the status of development and usage of these nascent technologies as well as the current possible algorithms and barriers for implementation.
Description
Learning Objective: 1. Review and understand the complex anatomy of the para-pharyngeal space. 2. Based on the anatomical review, compare the pros and cons of the various approaches to the para-pharyngeal space. 3. Analyze the treatment options of common and rare tumors and congenital lesions of the para-pharyngeal space.
