This session will help the potential Spanish-native author learn about the peer review process by working with a group of experienced Spanish-speaking peer reviewers from the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery journal. It would mention the essential methodological and biostatistical elements used to review an article and address participants' knowledge-based, concerns, and questions within these areas. It is aimed at practicing specialists, residents/students/fellows in training, and those who seek a greater understanding of methods and approaches utilized during the peer review process. In general, it will include topics on 1) the mission of peer-reviewing, 2) understanding the aims and scope of the journal, 3) understand the instructions for authors of the journal and guidelines for reviewers and, 4) conflicts of interest. We will additionally address current issues such as the phenomenon of predatory journals and ethics in the execution of peer reviews. Esta sesión será de gran ayuda para el potencial autor, nativo del español, que busca obtener información acerca del proceso de revisión por pares, al escuchar a un grupo de experimentados revisores hispanoparlantes pertenecientes al grupo editorial de la revista Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Mencionará elementos metodológicos y bioestadísticos esenciales que se emplean para revisar un artículo y abordar los conocimientos, preocupaciones y las preguntas de los participantes dentro de estas áreas. Dirigido a especialistas practicantes, residentes de la especialidad, estudiantes de medicina y subespecialistas en formación y aquellos que buscan un mayor entendimiento de los métodos y abordajes utilizados durante el proceso de revisión por pares. Incluirá tópicos sobre 1) la misión del proceso de revisión por pares, 2) el entendimiento de los objetivos y alcances de la revista, 3) conocer las instrucciones para autores de la revista y los lineamientos para los revisores y 4) conflictos de interés. Adicionalmente se tocarán temas como el fenómeno de las revistas predatorias y la ética en la ejecución de una revisión.
