Endoscopic Ear Surgery: Use, Technique, and Outcomes (2023 AMW)
2023 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience
Endoscopic Ear Surgery (EES) has already had a certain history over time, although lately, it has been gaining more popularity and followers, as well as attractiveness. Both endoscopic transcanal access and the combined endoscopic-microscopic approach have been shown to be safe and effective in the management of different ear pathologies in a minimally invasive manner, preserving important anatomical structures and thus allowing functional approaches for well-known conditions. Endoscopes are capable of providing a better view and understanding of the traditional anatomy and physiology of the middle ear, favoring the description of new references, new concepts of preservation surgery, routes of ventilation, and management of other conditions within the middle ear and even further. The purpose of this session is to share our experience as well as present the latest trends in EES, exposing the advantages, disadvantages, indications, results, and possible complications for different ear pathologies.
